Community Service

At the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teachers Co-operative Credit Union Ltd., we regard the Credit Union philosophy of; “People Helping People”, as our core value. Therefore, we endeavour to be committed to providing assistance & support to our members and the wider community. Furthermore, we host health seminars, youth symposiums, and participate in community service activities as a way to give back to our members and the community.

Sponsorship

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teacher Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. is proud to sponsor many events and programs in the communities that we serve. All sponsorship requests should be submitted in writing to our headquarters in Kingstown. Also, all formal requests submitted should outline the following:

  • The organization requesting sponsorship
  • A brief history and purpose of the organization
  • Purpose, description and objective of the event or activity
  • Details of the event (date, time etc.)
  • The audience of the event and it will be promoted
  • Type of Sponsorship needed (monetary, giveaways etc.)
  • How will it benefit the Teachers Co-operative Credit Union

Scholarship

The SVG Teachers Co-operative Credit Union takes great pleasure and pride in recognizing students who have excelled in their performance at the Caribbean Primary Exit Assessment (CPEA) examination.

Bursary Awards

The SVG Teachers Co-operative Credit Union awards members with a Bursary Award, subsequently pursuing their tertiary education.

Youth Group

The Youth Group develops and prepares future leaders of the Credit Union Movement in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Most importantly, this engages our youth members and therefore provides opportunities to develop their leadership skills and community involvement. For instance, through social activities, workshops, conferences, group interaction, and volunteer work with the Credit Union. To sum up, The Teachers Co-operative Credit Union develops members with self-confidence and a vision for their success.

National Secondary School Band Showcase

St. Vincent and the Grenadines Teacher Co-operative Credit Union Ltd. is proud to be the title sponsor of the National Secondary School’s band showcase, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture and the Ministry of Education. most importantly, this prestigious competition aims to develop and showcase the musical talent of students in St Vincent and the Grenadines. The first showcase was held in March 2018 and saw performances from 10 Secondary School-based bands and one community band. Also, Over the years the program has grown exponentially and has had a tremendous impact on music education in St. Vincent & The Grenadines, with many schools receiving donations of musical instruments through the program.

Educational School Co-op Tour

Each year the Teacher Co-operative Credit Union engages students that are part of the school’s co-op/thrift program. As a result, hosting an educational tour which aims to showcase the life, culture, and development in St. Vincent and the Grenadines. Over the years students have been given an opportunity to tour our beautiful country. Subsequently, learning about its history and development. For instance, here are a few of the places they have visited over the years:

  • VINLEC Hydro plant in South Rivers
  • The Agriculture Bio-Technology Centre at Orange Hill
  • The Sand Mining Plant at Rabacca
